Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire AMT 2016

Maruti Suzuki India, the country's largest carmaker is all set to launch the diesel AMT version of its top selling compact sedan, Swift Dzire. Equipped with Maruti's popular Auto Shift Gear (ASG) technology aka Automated Manual Transmission (AMT), the new Maruti Swift Dzire is expected to be launched in India early next year. Recently a test drive car of the upcoming Swift Dzire ZDI AMT was spotted at what appears to be a dealership yard, which indicates that the carmaker has already started to dispatch the cars.

Inside the car, the story remains the same. The car comes with the same beige-black interiors with standard Maruti Suzuki equipment and features. The main attraction in this one though is the new ASG/AMT gearbox lever, right where the previous manual transmission use to be. The car spotted here is the ZDI version that comes with alloy wheels, electrically-adjustable and folding ORVMs, ABS, EBD, dual front airbags, automatic climate control, key-less entry, engine start/stop button and a Bluetooth-enabled music system among others.

Even the powertrain of the new Swift Dzire ZDI remains the same, as the new Swift Dzire ASG continues to be powered by 1.3-litre Multijet four-valve DOHC turbo diesel engine that generates 74bhp of maximum power at 4000rpm and 190Nm of peak torque at 2,000rpm. Transmission duties are taken care of by the same 4-speed AMT gearbox that does duty in the petrol variant and will come only with the ZDI version. In addition, the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire ZDI will continue to have the standard 5-speed manual transmission on offer.
